Workspot Control Release R10.0 is a new-feature release.
New Features and Enhancements
Update Image. A new template (image) can be assigned to persistent pools. The new template is used whenever a new desktop is created for the pool. Existing desktops continue to use their current templates. Update Image is not available on pools in the Paused state.
Suspended desktops for deleted/disabled users. When an Active Directory user is deleted or disabled, the user’s persistent desktops are put in a “suspended” state. In this state, the desktop is still active but cannot be used by the Workspot Client, preventing unauthorized data access. To examine or back up data on the desktop, an administrator can sign in via the Remote Desktop Client from another VM on the same network, using a Windows administrator account. Once finished with the desktop, the Administrator can delete it (Previously, such desktops were deleted.)
Name Reuse. Names of deleted desktops (poolname-01, etc.) are now reused automatically on Azure pools where the “Auto Create on Delete” option is selected.
Support Admin Role. Administrator accounts now have three recommended levels: Administrator, Support Admin, and Helpdesk Admin. The Support Admin role is new in Control R10. The Support Admin can add new users (end-users, Helpdesk Admins, and Support Admins), delete users (end-users and Helpdesk Admins only), assign users to resources and groups, delete desktops, wipe Workspot Client data from remote devices, and view most (not all) status information. but cannot create new datacenters, groups, policies, pools, etc.
Compared to the previous Support Admin role, the new one is significantly more useful.
Desktop Performance Indicator. The “Security Policies > Utility Rules” section of Control now has an option to enable or disable the Client’s desktop performance indicator. Previously, it was always enabled.
GPU Performance Monitoring
GPU performance is now logged and displayed by Control. This feature is supported on GPU desktops running Workspot Agent 2.4.0 and above.
If a Workspot Enterprise Connector or Workspot Agent stops unexpectedly stops communicating with Workspot Control, a notification email is now sent to the Administrator defined in Workspot Control in “Setup > Configuration > Support email.”
These alerts are a selective feature, disabled by default. Contact Workspot to enable this feature.
