Remote Desktop Services (RDS) 2012 - Associating Applications with File Types to Allow the Editing of Documents in Content Repositories

Overview of Allowing Remote Editing of Documents in Content Repositories (CR-Edit)

The Workspot Client allows documents to be viewed on mobile devices. Many times a user needs to edit those documents remotely too. In addition to setting the appropriate policy in Workspot Control, IT needs to associate applications listed in RDS collections with the file types of documents stored in the content repositories. Refer to Publish Network File Share as Content Repository for configuration guidance using Control.

The following figures illustrate configuration of file associations.

  1. Select the Collection and Application
  2. Launch the Properties Editor and Select File Type Associations
  3. Select the File Type Associations
  4. Apply the File Type Association Selections and Note the Progress Bar
  5. Note Current Association for Application is the Collection

This illustration is an example of making file associations for a collection named Sales Demos and the Publisher 2013 application.

  1. Select the Collection and Application: For this example, a right-mouse click on the application name, Publisher 2013, published in the Sales Demos collection, raises the Edit Properties command.
