Welcome to Workspot! If you are reading this, then you’re ready to take your company to the next level. Let’s go!

This guide introduces you to the core concepts and features available. After a few simple steps, your end users will be running on a live, production instance of Workspot. Full capability is deployed quickly and easily because of the unique cloud control and client architecture. No appliance or server installations. Just a few conference calls to help you configure things and off you go!

You can enable the environments you want or the entire solution. It’s up to you! Just follow the path you need to enable access to:

Environment 1: Web Apps and Desktops (Express Setup)

Environment 2: Provision Virtual Desktops (VDI 2.0)

Environment 3: Windows Applications (Citrix XenApp or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services)

Environment 4: Mobile Platforms (Remote Access)

 

Environment 1: Web Apps and Desktops Access (Express Setup)

To enable access to web apps and desktops, you need prerequisites in place and the right people to participate with us.

Prerequisites:

  • Internal web app such as Intranet/Sharepoint and/or SaaS web apps
    Be sure:
    • No Java or Flash plugins requirement
  • Existing or new virtual machine (to which the Workspot Client will connect)
    Be sure:
    • VM is a Windows Desktop (Windows 7 Enterprise or 10 Enterprise/LTSB) or Windows Server (2008 R2 or 2012 R2)
    • Remote Desktop Connection is enabled
    • Workspot users are added to the Remote Desktop Users local group 
  • Windows PC running Windows 7 or later (on which the Workspot Client will be installed)
    Be sure:
    • Internet connectivity exists to communicate with Workspot Control
    • Internal network connectivity exists to internal and/or SaaS web apps
    • Internal network connectivity to existing Windows VM desktop 

Requested Participants: End User Architect, Systems or Application administrators.

 

Environment 2: Provision Virtual Desktops (VDI 2.0)

To enable access to provision virtual desktops, you need prerequisites in place and the right people to participate with us.

Prerequisites:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 or 2012 R2 (on which the Workspot Enterprise Connector will be installed)
    Be sure:
    • Internet connectivity exists to communicate with Workspot Control over port 443 (https)
    • Active Directory service account exists for the Workspot Enterprise Connector client service
  • Windows Desktop (Windows 7 Enterprise or 10 Enterprise/LTSB) template VM is available for provisioning

Nutanix Integration Option – Additional Prerequisites:

  • Server hardware running Nutanix AHV v4.6 or later
  • Nutanix Prism admin account with provisioning permissions

Scale Integration Option – Additional Prerequisites:

  • Server hardware running Scale HC3
  • Scale admin account

vSphere Integration Option – Additional Prerequisites:

  • Server hardware running VMware vSphere Hypervisor/vCenter address
  • VMware vSphere admin account with provisioning permissions
  • Customization Specification created in vSphere to customize templates during provisioning

Requested Participants: Systems or VDI, and Windows administrators.

Environment 3: Windows Applications (Citrix XenApp or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services)

To enable access to Windows applications published using Citrix XenApp or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, you need prerequisites in place and the right people to participate with us.

Citrix Prerequisites:

  • AppCenter apps on Citrix XenApp 6.5

Microsoft Prerequisites:

  • RemoteApp apps on a Windows 2008R2 or 2012R2 RD or 2016 RD Session Host Server

Requested Participants: Architect, Systems or Applications administrators.

Environment 4: Mobile Platforms (Remote Access)

To enable access to mobile platforms (remote access with supported VPN), you need prerequisites in place and the right people to participate with us.

Prerequisites:

  • Cisco ASA, Pulse Connect Secure, F5 LTM/APM or Fortinet FortiGate
  • iPhone or iPad (iOS 8 or later)
  • Android devices (4.1 or later, ARM based)

Requested Participants: Network and Systems administrators.
